I have taken a CBD tincture after dinner nearly every night for about 10 years, and for me a serving around 50mg is where I land. That is exactly why both of these are built around 50mg, so if you already know you need a stronger serving, you do not have to take two or three of something smaller to get there.

How To Choose and Use a Stronger CBD

Extra Strength CBD FAQ

What does extra strength CBD mean?

There is no official definition, so it is worth checking the mg per serving on any product that uses the term. At Kyoto Botanicals, extra strength means 50mg of broad-spectrum CBD per serving, double our 25mg gummies and stronger than the 30mg per dropper in our Organic Mint CBD Tincture.

Is 50mg of CBD a lot?

It is a stronger serving, but plenty of people land there once they find what works for them. Everyone is different (body weight and metabolism both play a role), which is why we always recommend starting lower and working up rather than starting at 50mg.

Should I start with extra strength CBD if I am new to CBD?

I would not. Start with 15 to 30mg a day for a week, and if you are not noticing anything, add about 10mg and hold for another week. Our Orange CBD Tincture works well for this, since you can take a quarter or half dropper (12.5mg or 25mg) and work up to a full 50mg dropper. Once you know 50mg is your serving, the softgels make it easy.

Which is stronger, the softgels or the tincture?

Neither. Both are 50mg of CBD per serving and 1500mg per bottle. The tincture is absorbed under the tongue, so it tends to kick in faster, while the softgels go through digestion first, so they are slower to start. The tincture also lets you take less than 50mg, and the softgels do not.

How long does a bottle of extra strength CBD last?

At one 50mg serving a day, a bottle of softgels or Orange CBD Tincture lasts 30 days. If you take smaller servings of the tincture, it lasts longer. If you want a 90-day supply, our CBD Softgels and Orange CBD Oil 3-Packs save you money on three bottles.

Will extra strength CBD get you high?

No. CBD does not cause a high, and a stronger serving does not change that. Every batch of our extra strength CBD is tested by an independent lab and comes back non-detect for THC.

Are there more side effects at a higher serving of CBD?

The side effects people report with CBD, like drowsiness, dry mouth, an upset stomach, or changes in appetite, can be more likely at higher servings. CBD can also interact with some prescription medications, so talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you start, especially at a stronger serving. CBD is not for anyone under 21, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Will extra strength CBD show up on a drug test?

Our extra strength CBD tests non-detect for THC, but no CBD brand can promise you will pass a drug test, us included. If there is any chance you will be drug tested, do not take CBD. For the full picture, read our guide on CBD and drug testing.

Is extra strength CBD more expensive?

Per bottle, yes, but per mg it is right in line with the rest of our line. Both of our 1500mg options are $79, which works out to about 5.3 cents per mg of CBD, and the softgel 3-pack brings that down further.
