I took a look at every single review we have received, across every platform, and coded each one by hand for why our customers say they use our products. The single biggest reason, more common than sleep or physical recovery, was everyday stress and feeling overwhelmed. So yes, many of our customers report that Kyoto Botanicals CBD does help them manage every day stressors in their lives.
39% of our 120 published reviews, across Judge.me, Google, and Trustpilot, name everyday stress or feelings of being overwhelmed as the reason the customer uses our CBD, unprompted, in their own words. Read the rest of this blog as we tease out more specific details to help you decide if CBD is right for you.
1. Does CBD Help With Stress? What the Data Shows
It would not be right to make medical claims about what CBD does or does not do for any individual person, and I never do and I am not going to start now. What I can do is show you what our customers say, in their own words, and how they incorporate Kyoto Botanicals broad-spectrum CBD into their own daily routines to help manage everyday stressors.
Of 120 published reviews we've received since launching in 2020, 47 of them, 39%, named stress or everyday overwhelm as their reason for using our products. That's more than sleep (28%) and more than physical support and recovery (25%). It holds up across every platform we checked: 39% on Judge.me, 33% on Google, 50% on Trustpilot.
*Categories overlap. A single review can mention more than one reason, so rows don't sum to 100%.
2. How We Analyzed 120 Real Customer Reviews
When we first published our video on this data, we'd read 94 reviews from Judge.me alone. Since then we pulled Google Business Profile and Trustpilot too, removed the handful of exact duplicates where the same review appeared on two platforms, and landed on 120 unique reviews. The percentages below reflect that fuller set.
83% of the stress-related reviews are from verified purchasers on Judge.me, meaning people who actually bought the product before leaving a review, not anonymous public comments. We tagged every review for two things: why the person said they were using it, and what they specifically said they liked. Nothing was cherry-picked. If you want the fully walkthrough, watch my video below.
3. What Kind of Stress Do People Use CBD For?
Within the 47 stress-related reviews, the language breaks down further:
- 36% describe general, everyday or workplace stress
- 6% specifically describe a racing mind or overthinking
- 6% tie their stress to a hormonal transition, like perimenopause
While we are very careful in how we talk about our products, I wanted to share these reviews with the language exactly as they wrote it, because it's their experience to describe, not ours to reframe. It is important to remember here that these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
4. Which CBD Product Is Best for Stress: Gummies or Tincture?
Kyoto Botanicals CBD gummies and tinctures are the leaders within the stress bucket, mentioned in 38% of those reviews and 43%, respectively. So if you are lookng for THC-free CBD products to help you manage everyday stressors, most of our customers lean towards buying Kyoto Botanicals organic CBD oil and broad spectrum CBD gumies.
A 2023 study published in Medical Cannabis and Cannabinoids followed 374 adults using THC-free CBD oil and found participants self-reported meaningfully greater stress-management benefit from a broad-spectrum product compared to an isolate. It's a self-reported study, not a clinical trial, and it's about CBD products generally, not a claim about our specific products, but it helps frame why we choose broad-spectrum CBD products over isolate only.
5. Is CBD for Stress a Daily Routine or a One-Time Fix?
People don't describe this as something they rely on here and there in their lives, it is a routine. 15% of stressor-related reviews use explicit routine or ritual language (daily, every morning, part of my routine), slightly above our 12% baseline across all reviews. 26% show loyalty language too, years of use, go-to, repurchasing, again above our 22% overall baseline.
6. Did Customers Try Other CBD Brands Before This One?
15% of the stress-related reviews specifically mention trying other brands or products before finding one that worked for them, compared to 10% across the full dataset. Of everything we measured, this is where the stress bucket differs most from our overall averages.
7. Does CBD for Stress Also Help With Sleep?
Within the stress-related reviews, 34% also mention sleep, 26% also mention physical recovery, and 21% also mention focus or getting through the day. For a third of the people in this dataset, stress and sleep aren't two separate things they are working to support.
8. What Does the Research Say About CBD and Stress?
Research specifically on CBD and stress is still limited, and no legitimate source, including us, should tell you otherwise. That said, a few things are worth knowing:
- The 2023 Wayne State University study referenced above found broad-spectrum CBD oil self-rated higher than isolate for stress management among 374 adults over a 30 or 60-day period.
- The study's own authors describe the results as consistent with prior research suggesting CBD may have everyday stressor supporting benefits, while explicitly calling for more controlled studies.
- This is self-reported data, not a blinded clinical trial, and it studies CBD oil generally, not any single brand's product.
All of our products are THC-free, broad-spectrum CBD. If you want the full breakdown of what that means and how we verify it, see our THC-free CBD guide.

10. What Are the Limitations of This CBD and Stress Data?
This is 120 reviews from people who already bought the product and chose to leave a review, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. About a quarter of all reviews are general praise with no specific reason given at all. Some categories in our full dataset only have a handful of reviews, too small to put a meaningful percentage on. What this is, is an honest look at what real customers told us, unprompted, in their own words.
Also, the experiences of other people with Kyoto Botanicals CBD products cannot tell you how they will work for you as an individual. Every one has a unique experience with CBD, so I encourage you to pick up a bottle today and start developing you own CBD routine. And as always, let me know if you ever have any questions, I respond personally to every inquiry.

Does CBD help with stress?
We can't make medical claims about what CBD does for any individual. What we can share is what our own customers tell us: in an analysis of 120 published reviews across three platforms, 39% named everyday stress or feeling overwhelmed as their reason for using our products, more than any other reason given.
How long does it take to feel a difference when using CBD for stress?
Reported timing varies by person and product. In our review data, most customers who mentioned timing described building a gummy or tincture into a daily routine rather than a fast-acting fix, though a few described noticing something the same day. Individual response varies, and a healthcare provider is the right resource for guidance specific to you.
Are CBD gummies or tincture better for stress?
Tinctures are mentioned slightly more often among stress-related reviews (43%) than gummies (38%). This reflects what our customers reported choosing, not a claim that one form works better than another for everyone, so go ahead and try one first and switch as needed.
Is it safe to use CBD for stress every day?
We can't give individual medical guidance. Many reviewers in our dataset described daily or near-daily use as part of an established routine. If you're considering daily use, especially alongside other medications or supplements, talk with your primary care provider first.
Does broad-spectrum CBD work better than isolate for stress?
We can't make that claim ourselves, but a 2023 quasi-experimental study of 374 adults, published in Medical Cannabis and Cannabinoids, compared a broad-spectrum and an isolate THC-free CBD oil and found participants self-reported greater effectiveness and stress-management benefit from the broad-spectrum product. That's self-reported data, not a clinical trial, and it's about CBD products generally, not a claim about our specific products.
Can I use CBD for stress without any THC at all?
Yes. All Kyoto Botanicals products are formulated and third-party lab tested to be THC-free.
What's the difference between stress and anxiety, and does this data cover both?
We coded for stress and everyday calm language specifically, since anxiety can refer to a diagnosed medical condition. Some reviewers used the word anxiety themselves, in their own words, and we report that accurately, but we don't make claims about treating any diagnosed condition ourselves.
